How it works

The widget is the same bio generator used on other pages here. Discord is not a dropdown option, which is mildly annoying, but the limits still work if you aim at them on purpose.

1. Pick a style. Funny and sarcastic fit most servers. Mysterious is for people who want DMs. The short, empty-looking option is for when you are tired of explaining yourself.

Character limits people mix up

About Me is 190 characters. That is the bio on your profile. Friends and the person who clicked your name after you typed “lol” in all caps can see it.

Custom status is 128 characters. That is the little line next to the emoji under your display name. It shows in member lists. It is the thing your friends quote back at you at 2am.

Pronouns get 40 characters. Display name is 32. Those are not the bio, but they steal attention from it. If your display name is already a joke, keep About Me readable.

Instagram gives you 150. WhatsApp About is 139. Discord’s 190 feels roomy until you try to cram a main game, a time zone, a social link, and a punchline into one box. Cut the link. Put the game in custom status.

Emojis count. A decorative row of them will eat the sentence you actually needed.

When to change it

About Me is not a daily post. Change it when the old one is lying. New main. You left the server that joke was about. The “looking for a duo” line survived three months past the duo. Seasonal is fine if you mean it, not if you are still running pumpkin emoji in March.

Custom status is a different job. Swap it when you sit down, when you go AFK, when the queue pops, when you are “in class” and still typing. A stale custom status is how people know you forgot Discord is open.

Servers get loud Friday night and Sunday afternoon. If you want the bio noticed, have it in place before people pile into vc, not after.

What ranks versus what gets copied

Do you save what I generate? No. Nothing is stored.

Same bio on Instagram and Discord? You can, but Discord readers sit in servers with you. Inside jokes land. Generic “coffee and chaos” lines do not.

How often should I change it? About Me when it is outdated. Custom status whenever you would have typed in chat anyway.

Does this respect the 190-character limit? Outputs show a character count. Trim if you add emojis or extra line breaks. Discord will cut you off mid-word and you will look like you walked into a wall.
